LC: to use my understanding of grid references to sketch a map using OS symbols
You are going to use your understanding of grid references to sketch a map for another pupil to follow!
Remind yourself how grid references must be written:

Your teacher will give you a blank map with grid references and you must plot the features of the location she gives you.
Step 1
Look around your location.
Choose 6 things you can see.
Step 2
Draw symbols to represent these things.
Step 3
Draw a Key to show what each symbol represents so that the person reading the map can follow it.
Step 4
Write your own answer sheet with the correct grid references of each of the features of your location.
Step 5
Swap your map with another pupil from another location and write which grid references.

LC: to make comparisons within and across texts

In your books answer the following questions:
1. How did the writer create suspense and tension in this ending? Find 3 examples of evidence from the text.
2. How is this ending different to the one we read yesterday? List 2 ways.
3. Which ending do you prefer? Give 2 reasons for your answer.
Task
Using all that you have learnt about creating tension and suspense, write an ending to the story 'The Curse of Cogston House' that is better than the one above.
Use the Tension Toolkit!
