Here is a range of jobs. With your group you will complete the ’Day in the Life’ task below for the job you are allocated.

Now look at this scenario and discuss the question at the bottom.

Task 2
Think of a skill you would like to develop - you can use the skills list from the beginning of our lesson to help you, or you might think of others.

Quick Write
I will choose one of the words below. When I say it, write it as many times as you can in one minute - take care to spell it correctly. We'll repeat this for another 4 words.
revision confusion impression discussion musician optician injection completion information decoration strangely wrinkly actually angrily dangerous adventurous serious
Learning
Focus: Create diminutives using the suffix -ette, e.g. courgette.
Remember - a suffix is an ending, used at the end of a word to turn it into another word. It can change the word class.
Shared read these words with me and clap the syllables:
courgette
kitchenette
statuette
suffragette
Can you identify the suffix in each word?
The suffix -ette means small or diminutive and sometimes the female version of something. It comes from French.
courgette (small marrow)
kitchenette (small kitchen)
statuette (small statue)
suffragette (a woman who campaigned for the right of women to vote)
Now, copycat read the following words after me, and clap the syllables:
palette
pipette
omelette
launderette
baguette
pirouette
Although there is no obvious root, the above words all end in -ette.
Watch me practise spelling some of the words using the Sticky Word Strategy: Colourful Words
baguette
omelette
Why have I coloured more than just the ette in each of the words?
Practise
Use the Sticky Word Strategy: Colourful Words as I've just modelled to practise spelling these words
courgette
kitchenette
statuette
suffragette
pipette
launderette
palette
pirouette
