LC: To explain the effect of deforestation on living things.

- What can you see?
- Which place would animals prefer to live in? Why?
- What might happen if all the trees disappeared?
What is Deforestation?
Deforestation means cutting down large areas of trees and forests. Forests are often cleared for farming, roads or buildings.
Why Forests Matter
Forests are important because they:
- provide homes and shelter for animals
- give food to living things
- help keep the air clean
- store carbon dioxide and help slow climate change
- protect soil and water supplies
Effects on Living Things
Discuss these key effects:
1. Habitat Loss
Animals lose their homes when trees are cut down. Some species cannot survive anywhere else.
2. Less Food
Plants are removed, meaning herbivores lose food. This also affects carnivores in the food chain.
3. Climate Change
Trees absorb carbon dioxide. When forests are destroyed, more greenhouse gases enter the atmosphere, causing global warming.
4. Endangered Animals
Animals such as orangutans, jaguars and elephants are threatened when forests disappear.
Plants → Insects → Birds → Jaguar
Discuss and answer:
- What happens if the trees are cut down?
- Which living things are affected first?
- How are the other animals affected?
- How could humans help?
Task in books:
Create a poster titled:
“Save Our Forests!”
Include:
- facts about deforestation
- pictures of animals affected
- ways people can help

Letting Others Help You / Christian Aid Week
This week is Christian Aid Week, a time when people come together to help communities around the world who are facing poverty, hunger, and hardship.
Sometimes helping others is important — but today I also want us to think about letting others help us.
Many people find it hard to ask for help because they want to solve problems on their own. But needing help is not a weakness. Everyone needs support sometimes.
Jesus accepted help from others too. He worked with friends and disciples, and He taught people to care for one another. Communities become stronger when people both give help and receive help.
Christian Aid reminds us that when people work together, even small actions can make a big difference. Donations, fundraising, and kindness can help families access food, clean water, education, and hope.
So this week, remember:
- It is good to help others.
- It is also okay to ask for help.
- Together, we can achieve more than we can alone.
Reflection:
Thank you for the people who help us when life is difficult.
Help us to support others with kindness and compassion.
Bless the work of Christian Aid and all who care for those in need.
