LC: To recognise different forms of poetry.

Today we are going to look at narrative poems.

Narrative means story and a narrative poem tells a story. Lots of poems are mainly about thoughts and feelings and not about telling a story.

Narrative poems

  • In a narrative poem, a story is told, but there is also rhythm and rhyme.

  • Rhythm and rhyme give the narrative energy so that it is more exciting.

  • Some narrative poems also contain repetition to add rhythm and make it more predictable.

3B Summer - Narrative

Activity

We have looked at three different forms of poetry this week. You each have a table with three different poems.

I will read through each poem and you need to tick the correct form.

LC: to investigate how water travels down a river.

LC: to investigate materials that float.

All about floating and sinking

Now we are going to investigate what materials would be best to measure the flow (speed) of the river.

Think carefully about the material and its effects on the environment.
