In Science and Enrichment you have learned about the life cycle of a butterfly.

Butterfly Life Cycle Larvae

A butterfly changes as it grows. This is called a life cycle. A butterfly has four stages in its life cycle.

First, a butterfly lays tiny eggs on a leaf. After a short time, the eggs hatch.

Next, a caterpillar hatches out of the egg. The caterpillar eats lots of leaves and grows bigger and bigger.

Then, the caterpillar makes a chrysalis around itself. Inside the chrysalis, the caterpillar changes.

Finally, a butterfly emerges from the chrysalis. Its wings dry, and then it can fly. The butterfly lays eggs, and the life cycle begins again.

Last week we wrote notes about a butterflies lifecycle. We are going to rehearse our explanation of a butterflies life cycle and then write it.

Think about the explanations we have written in English.

In English we are going to be learning a new poem.

We are going to learn th poem 'The Owl and the Pussycat' by Edward Lear

It’s not a storybook but a poem—a special kind of writing with rhythm, rhyme, and sometimes nonsense.

This poem is full of imaginative ideas—animals sailing a boat, buying rings, playing guitar, etc.

It shows that poems don’t always have to make sense—they can just be fun and magical.

Today we are learning that 1 hour = 60 minutes. 1 day = 24 hours.

The minute hand goes all the way around the clock once.

  • One full turn = 60 minutes = 1 hour
  • Half a turn = 30 minutes
  • Quarter of a turn = 15 minutes
  • Full turn = 60 minutes

A day has different parts:

  • Morning
  • Afternoon
  • Evening
  • Night

All together these make 24 hours.

Time Answer
1 hour ___ minutes
Half an hour ___ minutes
Quarter of an hour ___ minutes
2 hours ___ minutes
1 day ___ hours
