Wednesday

2F trip to Towneley Hall

We are going to finish writing our new explanation.

What do you need to remember to include in your writing?

The sunflower seed is buried in the soil.
The seeds have a hard coat. They are black and white striped or just black. The seed begins to grow roots after 1-2 weeks. The root pushes through the seed coat. Then the roots grow down into the soil so they can take in water.

The plant grows taller and stronger, towards the sun. The stem and leaves grow towards the light so the leaves can make the plants food. After 30 days, the bud forms. The flower head opens. After around 90 days, the sunflower will be fully-grown.

The flower petals start to wilt and the plant dies. The flower shrivels and the seeds from its head fall. Some of the seeds settle in the ground and begin the new sunflower’s life cycle.

Remember to read your explanation to check it makes sense and check you have included the correct punctuation.

We are going to complete End of Year Revision, Section B page 185 and 186.
