Thursday

To make inferences about characters and events using evidence from the text.

Today we are going to share a story that is written in a different way from all the rest we have read so far.

Whilst you are listening to the story, think about what is the same as the other stories and what is different.

Now it's your turn to think about what you would say if you were one of the characters from a tale. Work with a partner and each have a turn at acting out what you might say. Your teacher will model first.

Which character are you pretending to be?

Who are you talking to?

What event are you talking about?

Let's try the guided practice together.

Turn to page 29 and 30.

Can you identify different types of families including those that may be different to your own?

What did you notice about the families in the story?

Were they all the same?

What do these families have in common?

How do families show love and support?

  • Caring for each other
  • Living together or staying in touch
  • Helping with problems
  • Celebrating special times
  • Spending time together

Talk to your partner about your family.

Who are the people who live in your house?

Do you have family that live in other houses or countries?

'My family is special because…'
