LC: To identify what issues are important to us and how we can ask for changes to be made.

An issue is an important topic or debate for discussion.

Topics that might be discussed in parliament would include:

Environmental issues such as global warming, air pollution or plastic waste.

Health issues such as what vaccinations to offer to people or how to combat poor dental health among children.

Education issues such as changes that might be needed to the school curriculum or how much PE children should access each week.

Homelessness

Transport such as should a new railway line be built?

Crime

With your talk partner, discuss each of these issues. Can you think of any other examples of what Parliament might discuss or debate?

Now decide on one issue that is very important to you, and complete this task. Think about why it is important to you. Think about what you would like the government to do  to tackle this issue.
