Wednesday 25th June

Today you are going to be writing an independent flashback story from the perspective of Albert.

1. Structure & Organisation

  • I have written in the first person ("I", "me", "my").

  • My narrative is written in the past tense, with a clear flashback to an earlier time.

  • The flashback is clearly introduced (e.g., using a trigger like an object, sound, or memory).

  • There is a clear return to the present by the end of the narrative.

2. Language & Style

  • I use descriptive language to show feelings, thoughts, and setting.

  • I include figurative language (e.g., similes, metaphors, personification) to create imagery.

  • I vary my sentence openers and lengths for effect.

3. Character & Emotion

  • I show how the main character feels during both the present and flashback scenes.

  • I use internal thoughts and reflections to show the character’s emotions and growth.

4. Cohesion & Devices

  • I use time adverbials (e.g., Suddenly, Years ago, At that moment) to guide the reader.

  • I use transitions between the present and the past smoothly.

  • I use paragraphs to separate ideas and shifts in time.
