LC: To manipulate sentences for effect when writing the second part of a story.
The story will now flashback to the events that have led up to Wallace's current situation and then return to the present day.
1. Structure & Organisation
-
I have written in the first person ("I", "me", "my").
-
My narrative is written in the past tense, with a clear flashback to an earlier time.
-
The flashback is clearly introduced (e.g., using a trigger like an object, sound, or memory).
-
There is a clear return to the present by the end of the narrative.
2. Language & Style
-
I use descriptive language to show feelings, thoughts, and setting.
-
I include figurative language (e.g., similes, metaphors, personification) to create imagery.
-
I vary my sentence openers and lengths for effect.
3. Character & Emotion
-
I show how the main character feels during both the present and flashback scenes.
-
I use internal thoughts and reflections to show the character’s emotions and growth.
4. Cohesion & Devices
-
I use time adverbials (e.g., Suddenly, Years ago, At that moment) to guide the reader.
-
I use transitions between the present and the past smoothly.
-
I use paragraphs to separate ideas and shifts in time.
