Monday
To be able to solve word problems involving calculating change from an amount of money.
Let’s try the guided practice together.
Turn to page 33 and 34.
We are going to continue to explore the vocabulary used in adverts by identifying techniques authors use to persuade their audience.
Vocabulary we will need to know:
- rhyme- when words have the same sounds (yummy/tummy)
- alliteration- when words begin with the same letters (fantastic fun)
- exaggerate the positive- making something BIGGER and BETTER than reality
- slogan- a short, striking, memorable phrase (I'm loving it!)
Have you ever wondered why authors ask the reader questions on persuasive posters or adverts on the television?

Now it's your turn to find examples in the adverts we have in class.
