Edit your narrative using a green pen

On Monday and Tuesday in English we wrote our new independent narrative, using Thomas the Tank Engine as inspiration.

What did you change in your narrative?

Today we are going to use our green pens, to check, edit and improve our narrative. We are going to check to see if we have used the following:


- joining words ‘and’ ‘but’ ‘because’ ‘when’
​​​​​​- capital letters for names

- capital letters at the start of a sentence

- full stops

- ed words

- contractions

- rhyming words

 

If we haven’t used the above skills, then we must try to innovate by add these skills into our narrative piece. 

To recognise and use language relating to days of the week and moths of the year.

Listen to the song again. This time your teacher will pause when each day come up so you can see how it is spelt. What makes some of the days trickier than others?

Today we are going to use our knowledge from English and Maths to write new lyrics for this song.

 

Remember, when we write a day of the week, it is a name so it needs a capital letter.

On what day do we have Music?

 

Today your task is to write a sentence for each day of the week.

For example:

On Sunday we get up late.

On Monday we come to school.

On Tuesday we ....
